Our Story

Fall 2019

Marie Vézina, Jasmine Verville, Véronique Nault, Simon Marcoux and Jennifer Chabot present a project based on Marie Vézina’s knowledge and experience in speech therapy at Coopérathon, the world’s largest social innovation competition. The team won the provincial finals and then took 1st prize in Canada!

Winter 2020

After this success, they decided to create the non-profit organization API-Enfance, a social enterprise using digital technology, to support children’s development by simplifying access to digital intervention services.

Spring 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all public funding was redirected to help existing organizations. Fortunately, the CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale (CIUSSSCN) agreed to provide a service loan to develop a prototype of the program. Since then, the CIUSSSCN has been our privileged development partner.

Fall 2020

Presentation of a first prototype to CIUSSSCN, who has agreed to provide additional resources to further develop our telehealth language stimulation program in French: Mots d’enfants.

Fall 2021

The launch of pilot projects at CIUSSSCN was a great success! It is an unprecedented cross-sector collaboration. It is a revolution in speech therapy services for families. The recognition of the program as a cutting-edge practice in development makes it possible to obtain additional resources.

Spring 2022

Partnership with the Centre de Transfert pour la Réussite Éducative du Québec (CTREQ), to adapt the program to educational services and schools.

First steps to adapt the program for Indigenous communities, in a cultural safety project, in collaboration with CIUSSSCN and the Centre d’amitié autochtone de Québec.

Summer 2022

First presentation of the cutting-edge practice Mots d’enfants in Quebec’s public health and social services network.

Our new web-based knowledge transfer application, supporting the program is now available.

Fall 2022

Roll-out of the program in Quebec’s health and social services network in French.

Winter 2023

Pilot projects with the CTREQ started in (pre-)kindergartens, childcare centres and home childcare providers in French.

Summer - Fall 2023

Translation of the entire program into English.

Adaptation of the intervention approach to the realities of Indigenous communities in Canada (translation in innu-aimun).

 

Winter 2024

Launch of the program in English : Blooming Words.

Launch of pilot projects in Indigenous communities in Quebec.

Spring 2024

Roll-out of the program in Quebec’s educational services, schools and private practices

A clinical efficacy study on the program started at CIUSSSCN.
